When God first breathed life into the first human being, the first responsibility he gave that man was to take care of the earth. God gave Adam plants and trees to tend, and animals as companions, before the creation of the first woman (Genesis 2:15-22). Before allowing the earth to be populated by humans, God made sure man understood it was his responsibility to nurture and protect the earth for the coming generations.
Jewish or not, we all share this planet. Tu B’Shvat gives us an opportunity to come together to celebrate our beautiful and plentiful world as we celebrate the birthday of the trees!
It’s tempting to focus on terrorism, and the unfair treatment of Israel during this prisoner exchange. But now is not the time. Our lost sheep has been found. Today, we rejoice.

While most of the world prays for the Japanese people, and sends support, a vocal few claim that an angry God is punishing Japan for their aid to Palestine. Why he chose Japan, and not the other forty-six countries that send aid to Palestine, including the USA, is a mystery.
They gather in the parking area outside of Polly’s home, take pictures of anyone who comes or goes, and yell insults and obscenities, including, “Jesus, the bastard,” over loudspeakers. They’ve been protesting for eight years.
