Your Story. Your voice. the best it can be.
Shalom, readers! I took a blogging sabbatical (You did notice, didn’t you?), but I’m back now. I can’t quit you. For those of you who were following the Year to Conquer Fear, and remember my epic roller coaster fail, I am pleased to tell you that I finally got up the nerve…
Last New Year’s Eve, I declared 2013 my Year to Conquer Fear. I set out to face at least one thing that I’m afraid to do each month throughout the year, then blog about it.
People tell me that the Bible says some variation of “Do not fear,” 365 times. I don’t know if that number is correct, but it’s in there a lot. People also tell me that God commands us not to fear. So stop it. Don’t fear. Fear is sin. I don’t believe it.
My family urged me to stop. My skating days are over, they said. It’s too risky at my age, considering what happened. I could get seriously injured. I knew they were right. My muscles were weak and my weight high, throwing off my balance. I’m a slow healer. And a million other reasons. Sadly, I pushed my pretty skates to the back of the closet, not quite ready to give them up. I don’t even know how long they’ve been sitting there.
