Easter-Only Churchgoers Want More

Today, Easter Sunday, churches across the world are filled to overflowing with people who do not usually go to church–people who have been hurt by Christians or who are not sure they really believe all this Bible stuff; people who hope to see a kind face and hear a merciful word. In spite of their doubt and fear, they feel compelled to attend a church on Easter to hear about the sacrificial death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus.

Where do you worship? Is God OK with that?

When the woman at the well perceived Jesus to be a prophet, the first thing that came to her mind was worship. Her ancestors worshiped in Samaria. Was God OK with that?

Telling religious to Get Over It is the wrong message.

Dan Savage’s call for religious people to ignore the Bible divides Jewish and Christian communities and the LGBT community even further; and stems from a misunderstanding of what the Bible actually says. Savage, and others concerned with equality, should call upon us to stop ignoring it.
